Fuji Shelter
Fuji Shelter is a backcountry wilderness hut in Oregon’s Willamette National Forest. It’s a three-sided structure with a sleeping loft, a wood stove, and a wood picnic table, set on the winter-shelter network near Willamette Pass (about 5,560 ft). Overnight use is limited to 4 people and the shelter can be used on a first-come, first-served basis—no advance reservations or permits are required.
Access is tied to winter trail systems from Salt Creek Falls Sno-park and Waldo Lake Sno-park, with the shelter located off Fuji Creek Road 5894. Plan for primitive conditions: firewood can run low or be completely out depending on the season, and candles aren’t allowed (bring battery-powered lights). If you’re going in winter, also expect backcountry conditions and closures to change quickly and verify current forest alerts before you leave.
