Geai Bleu

Geai Bleu is a wilderness hut used as an overnight on La Traversée de Charlevoix. The hut sleeps up to 12 people and is reserved for the thru-hike; if you want to stay without doing the complete crossing or half-crossing, it can be booked within 48h (call to book).

Inside, the hut provides slow-combustion stove heat, firewood, and cooking/lighting setups including propane stoves and propane lamps on the first floor (and solar light at Geai Bleu). Beds are set up as mattresses; there are dry composting toilets. There is no running water at the hut (it’s near water sources along the trail), so plan to treat water (filter, tablets, or boiling).

Booking is handled by La Traversée de Charlevoix, and the trail program expects you to bring items like a sleeping bag, dish towels, a scrubbing sponge, toilet paper, and fire-starting materials (or newspaper). When hikers choose the deluxe package, drinking water is provided via their luggage/food transport.
