Hilda Hut
Hilda Hut is a backcountry alpine hut run by Valkyr Adventures, set at 1,920 meters on the east side of the Valkyr Range in spruce forest beneath Mount Hilda. The lodge is a spacious 3-story building and accommodates 12 guests in 6 private rooms (with additional staff bedrooms). Use is by reservation.
It includes a large entryway/drying room, shower, and 2 toilets, with a fully outfitted kitchen and a large cold pantry (with fridges and a freezer). Power is provided via a micro hydro plant, and heat comes from 2 wood stoves plus a separate wood-fired sauna hut with a shower room.
Hilda Hut serves as a base for ski touring and alpine hiking. Ski touring provides access to 4,000 hectares of terrain across 9 zones on Mt. Hilda, Mt. Prough, and Mt. McBride, including steep skiing in the home basin and additional terrain over the ridgeline; alpine hiking involves ascents of about 300 m up steep grassy/rocky terrain to reach alpine meadows and about 700 m to summit Mount Hilda (a guide and climbing equipment may be needed for the summit).
