Jasse de Courtès

Jasse de Courtès is an open-to-all, one-room mountain shelter in the Haut-Languedoc area, set up for simple overnight stops or a break during a hike. It has a fireplace, plus tables and benches inside, and it sits right by the GR653 southeast of the col des Clares.

Use is free and it’s unstaffed, so plan to be self-sufficient. There’s no drinking water at the shelter; water is about a couple of kilometers away on the GR653, so carry supplies if you’re arriving late or if conditions are dry. Expect limited space—use the shared interior thoughtfully—and when you make a fire, keep it contained and fully extinguished.
