Kapuni Lodge

Kapuni Lodge is a private, locked hut owned by Mt Egmont Alpine Club. It sits on the slopes of Fanthams Peak at about 1400m, reached by roughly a 1-hour walk up the Summit Track from Dawson Falls. Opened in 1952 and extensively renovated from 1996 to 2002, it sleeps 16 in the main bunkroom and 3 in a small bunkroom.

Use is by booking through the Lodge Booking Officer (Al Barkla). Gas cooking is available, along with wood/coal fire heating; crockery and utensils are supplied, and LPG gas is provided for cooking. Fees are $10 per person for members and $25 per person for non-members (children 12 and under: $5 for members, $15 for non-members). There’s also a lost key fee of $50. The lodge provides solar lighting.
