La Hutte
La Hutte is a rustic log shelter in Vallée Bras-du-Nord, designed for overnight stays on foot. It’s a small dorm-style setup (8 people / 8 dormitory beds) with no private rooms—sleeping is on a second-floor dormitory.
Access is from Shannahan reception, with the shelter about 2 km from the departure point. There’s no car access nearby and you carry your own belongings on foot; in winter a luggage sled is available free of charge. Lodging guests must stop at Accueil Shannahan to complete final reservation procedures and get their access rights.
Use is limited by time windows for hikers: authorized stopovers are permitted for hikers between 11am and 3pm only. Fire and cooking rules are seasonal: campfires are permitted in summer but prohibited on site in winter; outdoor wood is included in summer but wood bags are for sale at Accueil Shannahan during opening hours.
Rates for the shelter are 120$ per night, with a minimum of 2 nights on weekends and annual holiday periods for refuges including La Hutte. Trail access is not included in lodging rates, and lodging requires online access purchase with an arrival QR code.
What to bring is the usual backcountry kit: a sleeping bag or bedding plus pillows, a light source (lantern/candles), and first-aid/hygiene/medication supplies if needed. Drinking water is not considered potable in the area, so plan to boil, filter, or treat water. Guests are expected to pack out all waste in garbage bags. In winter, bring snowshoes with crampons, warm boots, extra warm layers, and a headlamp with spare batteries.
