Le Tronc Creux
Le Tronc Creux is a backcountry refuge in the Bourgailh site (Pessac). It’s a small, simplified shelter option for overnight use with a capacity for 9 people (3 double beds and 3 single beds).
Plan for a very basic stay: there’s no water, electricity, or heating. Toilets are available nearby, and it’s free to use under the reservation conditions. Access is via Lianes 4, stop Beauséjour, and the refuge is about 300 m from the main entrance; key pickup/return is handled at Pessac city hall. If you have the keys before an orange or red storm/wind forecast, you’re asked not to go to the Bourgailh and to return the keys; during orange/red conditions, strong winds/branch-fall risk, or wildfire danger, access to the forest and the refuge is prohibited.
