Loge du Rouleux
Loge du Rouleux (also known as Chalet des Italiens) is a forest hut in the Vosges, operated by the Mairie du Ménil. Use is aimed at hikers and forest workers; the hut is open to everyone and can be used on a free, shared basis without booking.
Inside, it has basic refuge equipment: a wood stove (“fourneau à bois”) along with a small set of simple furnishings such as tables and benches. Overnight stays are generally not allowed except for danger or necessity (for example, a violent storm or becoming lost), so plan for a day shelter unless conditions force an exception.
The hut is associated with the commune’s historic forest refuge network. The access and approach are via hiking routes signed for Loge du Rouleux from the surrounding trailheads near Le Ménil/“Mairie du Ménil.” Pack for a short backcountry stop: bring your own water/food and be ready to use the stove if you arrive with time to manage a fire appropriately.
