McGregor Bivouac

McGregor Bivouac is a small two-bunk backcountry hut in Tararua Forest Park (Wairarapa), run by the Department of Conservation. It’s a first-come, first-served option with free use, but it sits in a remote part of the park with no DOC track access—plan your route and navigate yourself using a map, compass, and GPS.

The hut has pit latrine toilets. Drinking water is untreated, so treat or filter water before use.
