Mid King Bivouac

Mid King Bivouac is a DOC backcountry hut in Tararua Forest Park (Wairarapa). It’s a basic two-bunk bivvy for independent backcountry travel in a remote area of the park, and it has no DOC track access—plan your route and navigate yourself with map, compass, and GPS. Use is first come, first served, with no bookings required, and the hut use is free.

The hut provides two bunks for overnight stays. Drinking water is not provided. Toilets are available as a pit latrine; there is no fireplace.
