Old Woman Hut

Old Woman Hut is a Department of Conservation six-bunk backcountry hut in the Kopuwai Conservation Area (Otago). It’s set up for standard hut stays: no bookings are required, but you’ll need a Standard Hut Ticket in the honesty box for each night you use the hut.

The hut has sleeping provision (mattresses), toilets with pit latrine disposal, and a fireplace; however, no fuel is supplied even though there is heating. Entry is first come, first served, with fees payable by ticket (adult $10 per night, youth $5 per night, child/infant free through 30 June 2026).
