Pakituhi Hut
Pakituhi Hut is a standard 8-bunk backcountry hut in Hāwea Conservation Park (Otago), used by walkers on Te Araroa Trail. Use is first come, first served—no bookings are required—and it can be busy over summer.
The hut is on the Te Araroa Trail, with an important spring lambing constraint: in spring during lambing there is no exit via the Grandview Mountain Track. DOC charges hut fees through 30 June 2026 ($10 per night for adults, $5 per night for youth 5–17, free for children/infants 0–4), and you pay by buying a Standard Hut Ticket for each night and placing it in the honesty box at the hut; an option is a Te Araroa Trail Pass. Water is available but untreated, and the hut has pit latrine toilets.
