Pierre du Chasseur

Pierre du Chasseur is an unguarded backcountry hut used as an emergency shelter in the French Alps (Massif de la Lauzière). It’s a basic structure with a stove and mattress sleeping space for about 6 people; use is free and it’s not set up with an online reservation system—plan on first-come, first-served availability.

The hut sits at roughly 1938 m and is typically reached along hiking routes in the Tour de la Lauzière area. Expect limited sheltering quality compared with staffed refuges, and bring your own sleeping gear for night use where mattresses are not guaranteed.
