Polar Star Inn
Polar Star Inn is a wilderness backcountry hut in the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association system, privately owned and booked through the 10th Mountain. It sits just below treeline at 11,040 ft, with capacity for 19 people and a reservation required. The inn has heat, a wood oven, refrigeration, a fire ring/fire feature, and an outhouse; showers aren’t provided and there’s no charging. The hut is set up with mattresses and pillows, and it’s dog-free.
Built in 1987, Polar Star Inn is described as a tall-standing structure with a large deck; it has six private bedrooms plus additional communal sleeping space upstairs. Running water is limited: it notes a spring-fed cistern, and running water isn’t guaranteed (snowmelt may be needed in winter, and filling jugs from water sources may be required in summer). Price is listed as $60/person/night, with children 12 & under receiving 50% off. Bookings go through the hut’s online booking platform; it’s also commonly used together with the adjacent Seipel Hut for larger groups.
