Refuge Anse-aux-Vaches
Refuge Anse-aux-Vaches is a backcountry hut on the Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix near Saint-Tite-des-Caps (Charlevoix, Quebec). It’s managed via the Sentier des Caps reservation system and is offered as an 8-person refuge option.
Use is by reservation. When making a reservation, 50% of the total cost of the nights must be paid by credit card (non-refundable in the event of cancellation); if a cancellation occurs 3 days or less before the start, 100% of the total cost of the reserved nights is due. Pricing shown on the refuge option is $36.96 per night for the 8-person rate (taxes not included).
Inside the refuge there’s a wood stove with firewood, an axe and newspaper, plus a large pot and picnic table. Dry toilets are provided near each refuge. There’s a water source near all refuges except the La Grande-Vue refuge (for this refuge option, plan to treat/boil found water as instructed for the system). The refuge sleeping list focuses on bringing a floor mattress and a sleeping bag, along with basic cooking and personal gear.
Outdoor fires are strictly forbidden at the refuge/campsite; follow the system rules. Bring what you need to be self-sufficient: a stove and fuel, matches or lighter, utensils/dishes, candle, toilet paper, clothing, mosquito repellent, and a flashlight or headlamp with spare batteries, plus a small repair kit and water treatment (water filter or tablets). Keep and transport your own waste; garbage bag is required. Dogs are not permitted on long hikes or in mountain huts.
