Refuge de la Glière

Refuge de la Glière is a mountain refuge in the Vanoise National Park near Champagny-en-Vanoise, at about 2,010 m. It’s a simple, energy-limited refuge reached only on foot (or by bike/horse riding), and it operates as a classic backcountry overnight stop in summer.

The refuge runs a dormitory-style sleeping option and also has rooms; it’s set up for groups passing through the area’s multi-day hut networks. Online booking is required to secure a bed/half-board, and the refuge can’t guarantee accommodation or meals without a reservation.

The approach is commonly done as a walk from the valley: about 1 h 45 on a dirt track, with roughly 450 m of climbing on a pastoral path before you arrive at the refuge. The area around the hut is also a wildlife hotspot (marmots are especially common around the ascent).
