Refuge de l'Écondu
Refuge de l'Écondu is a mountain backcountry hut in the Beaufortain on the Tour du Beaufortain, managed by the hut’s wardens and used for a summer trek stop. It sleeps 18 people: a 9-person dorm, an 8-person dorm, and a 2-person private room. The hut provides common sanitary facilities including two shower cubicles with hot water (subject to energy limits) and has toilets inside.
For overnight stays, bring a drap-sac (sleeping bag liner/sac à viande); beds are prepared with bedding and pillows. The refuge is typically open in summer: open until 20 September 2026, with the service running daily from 05 June to 19 September 2026. Dinner is served between 19:00 and 19:30, and you’re expected to arrive at least 1 hour before dinner. Half-board is 58 € per adult (45 € for children under 10), night is 25 €, breakfast is 13 €, and a picnic to take away is 14 €; cash and bank cards are accepted, but in the mountains connectivity can fail, so bring an alternative payment method. Motor vehicles are not allowed to drive to the refuge itself; park along the departmental road and walk in. Dogs are not allowed inside (keep them leashed outside).
