Refuge de l'Étang Fourcat

Refuge de l'Étang Fourcat is a backcountry hut run by Club Alpin Français, sitting at 2,445 m in the cirque of the Fourcat lakes. It’s a staffed refuge seasonally, with 37 sleeping places during the period when a guardian is present, and 12 places in the winter room when the hut is accessible outside guarding dates.

Approach is on foot: from the parking of Pradières and the étang d'Izourt it takes about 4h15 to reach the refuge, while access from Andorra and the station of Arcalis is about 3h00. The refuge is non-guarded at the moment and reopening is scheduled for 24 June 2026; outside the guarded period, payment for your stay is handled after the fact.
