Refuge des Aiguilles d'Arves
Refuge des Aiguilles d'Arves is a backcountry hut run by Club Alpin Français in the Grandes Rousses–Arves area, at 2260 m above the torrent des Aiguilles. It has 39 sleeping places in 3 dormitories, and a smaller “out of guarding season” layout with 24 sleeping places in 2 dormitories.
The refuge is staffed on set dates: winter/spring from 14 February to 18 April 2026, and summer from mid-June to mid-September 2026 (with the 2026 season opening discussed on the hut’s official page). Bedding is organized via the hut’s reservation system during guarding periods; outside guarding periods, use is handled by paying your night fee afterward. Meals are available with evening half-board, and there are also options for midday restoration and pre-booked picnic preparation.
For bivouac, night use is free and open, but flat spots are very limited (only 1–2 places right around the refuge; more options in the Vallon des Aiguilles). Access inside the refuge for dogs is not permitted; outside, dogs should be kept on a leash. Drinking water is available from a fountain, and outside toilets are available during bivouac use.
