Refuge des Cortalets
Refuge des Cortalets (also called Refugi dels Cortalets) is an FFCAM backcountry hut at 2,150 m in the Canigou massif area, with direct access into the high country around Canigó (up to 2,784 m). It functions year-round for hikers using the Pyrenees traverse and related routes (GR 10 / HRP).
The hut is run by Club Alpin Français and has capacity for 105 people (two levels). A winter refuge option is available, and sleeping arrangements include 105 bunks during staffed periods.
For upcoming staffing, the managed period listed on the official site runs from 30 May 2026 to 28 June 2026, with guidance that after 28 June 2026 you should follow the site updates related to works; the refuge remains open during the works period. Reservations for the 30 May–28 June 2026 window are exclusively handled via the refuge’s own booking page.
Outside the guarded period, the refuge is offered for use with 19 sleeping places. Electricity is limited: power is provided via solar panels with an additional generator, and recharging at the refuge is limited to phones and GPS for safety reasons; other devices are expected to be charged before arrival.
