Refuge du Col del Torn

Refuge du Col del Torn (also known as Refugi del Coll del Torn) is a high-mountain backcountry refuge at 1,870 m in the French Pyrénées, near La Llagonne / Capcir (commune of Matemale). With about a dozen beds, it’s set up for a compact refuge stay, including meals and half-board when the refuge is open.

Plan your visit around its seasonal openings: weekends in June; daily in July and August; from September into early October it follows a reduced schedule; then it operates from mid-December to mid-April with weekly closures (typically on Mondays, plus additional weekly closure on Tuesdays outside school holidays). Use is by reservation, and bookings are handled directly by the refuge wardens via phone or email. For a first stay, it’s commonly used as an easy introduction from the nearby nordic domain (ski in winter; in summer, routes shift toward walking and biking options).
