Refuge du Mont Thabor

Refuge du Mont Thabor is a backcountry refuge in the Mont-Thabor area of the Alps, run by Club Alpin Français (CAF). It sleeps 46 people and sits at 2,490 m elevation.

The refuge is staffed seasonally: spring guard runs from 2 February to 11 April 2026, and the summer guard runs from 13 June to 19 September 2026. Outside the guarded periods, people staying overnight must be fully self-sufficient (bring your own sleeping gear and cooking equipment); bivouacs are allowed around the lakes Sainte Marguerite behind the refuge, with full autonomy required and waste management on you. For those booking during the summer guarded period, the online reservation system includes an automated waiting list; dining places can be fully booked during summer (so plan ahead for meals). Douches (showers) are available only during the summer period.
