Refuge du Plan de la Lai
Refuge du Plan de la Lai is a Club Alpin Français backcountry alpine hut in the Beaufortain, set at about 1,822 m on the approach to Plan de la Lai and above Lac de Roselend. It sleeps 19 people total (a 12-person dormitory, a 7-person dormitory, plus a 6-person yurt).
Use is through the hut’s caretaker season in mid-June to mid-September (open window shown on the official page). The refuge is currently closed, with the next opening scheduled for 15 June to 14 September 2026, and for summer 2026 reservations are required via the online booking area. The hut sits on major long-distance routes including GR5 and the Tour du Beaufortain / Tour du Mont-Blanc corridor, and it’s at the start of outings toward other huts and cols (for example Col du Bonhomme and Presset).
The hut is also positioned at the foot of the Via Ferrata du Roc du vent and serves as a practical base for activities around the area such as hiking (pedestrian), trail running, VTT/cyclotouring, climbing, and fishing in rivers and lakes.
