Refuge du Plan des Gouilles
Refuge du Plan des Gouilles is a FFCAM backcountry refuge in the Vanoise massif, set above the valley of Champagny at 2,346 m near the Grand Bec ice-slope. It sits about mid-way between the Doron de Champagny area and the Grand Bec summit, serving as an isolated stop for glacier and high-altitude day circuits in the Haute Vanoise.
The refuge has 40 beds (3 dormitories) when staffed, and 28 beds (2 dormitories) outside the staffed period, making it a useful base for multi-day hiking itineraries around Grand Bec, the Pointe du Vallonnet, Becca Motta, and the Grande Casse/Valaisonnay circuits. Guardian coverage is limited to the weekends of Ascension (14–17 May) and Pentecôte (22–25 May), with continuous guarding from 30 May to 7 September 2026. The refuge is approved for the reception of supervised minors, and the booking system and tariffs run through the FFCAM refuge site.
