Refuge du Versant Sud
Refuge du Versant Sud is a wood-round backcountry hut in Parc Montagne du Diable, managed by the park. The refuge has a capacity of 10 people (10 single mattresses) and is reserved through the park’s online booking system; there are no dogs allowed and VHR is not permitted at this accommodation.
It’s on the trail system of the park’s Montagne sector: it’s about 7.5 km on foot or by snowshoeing from P2, and about 8 km by nordic ski. The hut has a wood stove and table seating, an outdoor dry toilet, and stocked basics on-site such as firewood and a kettle setup for boiling water.
Plan to be self-sufficient: bring a sleeping bag and other personal bedding items, plus your own water-purification gear because there isn’t potable water near the mountain refuges. There are no water or gear rental services at the refuge itself; also note the refuge rules include no fire or smoking in the forest or near the refuges except in designated spots, and you must pack out your waste.
