Refuge forestier de la Canadelle
Refuge forestier de la Canadelle is a small, unstaffed backcountry shelter at about 1,200 m, used by hikers passing through the forest road area below the col de Port. The shelter is a compact forest house with a single upper level, with a working fireplace but no stove. Inside, it’s very basic and best treated as a last-resort shelter: bring everything you need to sleep and cook yourself (it’s not set up as a serviced refuge).
It sits right beside a forest track, with water available within about 100 m, but there are no latrines and no poêle. A non-reservable, free-use shelter style applies—there’s no formal booking process or host—so plan for first-arrival use and keep your expectations realistic for a rustic cabin that may be used by squatters and can suffer from rough condition or vandalism.
