Refuge Grande-Ourse

Refuge Grande-Ourse is a backcountry wilderness hut operated by SEPAQ in Parc national du Mont-Mégantic (Observatory sector). It sleeps up to 8 people, and use requires a reservation.

Inside, the hut is set up with 2 closed bedrooms and 2 double bunk beds in each. It has a wood stove, and nearby there are dry toilets. For access, plan on a 2.2 km hike from the Discovery and Visitors Centre using an intermediate trail; reservations are available year-round. Rates run about $33 to $36.50 per person per night depending on the day of the week, and there’s an important low-light guidance for the International Dark Sky Reserve: keep outdoor lighting low-intensity and preferably amber-colored.
