Refuge Lo Tsamou
Refuge Lo Tsamou is a staffed backcountry refuge at 2,060 m in the Mont-Bas area above Bramans (Val-Cenis). Built in 2014, it offers 36 beds in 2-person rooms and dorms, plus water for guests and showers; it’s managed by Joseph and Lola during the summer period.
Booking is handled by sending a reservation request form (your dates and board option), with the wardens contacting you to confirm/validate. Staying options include a night-only option, half-board, or full board (full board includes meals from the midday meal at the refuge or a picnic option). The refuge is open on seasonal weekends/holidays from late May to late June, then daily in July–August, and again on weekends/holidays from late August through late September; weekday stays are by reservation.
From Bramans, drive to Saint-Pierre d’Extravache on RD 100, park at the chapel, then follow the marked path “Lo Tsamou / Montbas” on foot (about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes). The walk ends at the refuge in an alpine pasture area.
