Refuge Pastoral du Riou Pla

Refuge Pastoral du Riou Pla is a free, non-guarded pastoral shelter in the Donezan massif (Ariège, Occitanie) at about 1,445 m. It’s basic and meant for self-reliant overnighters: bring your own sleeping gear, expect a simple indoor space on a concrete floor, and keep the cabin clean for the next users.

The hut has an angled corner fireplace and a bench; there’s no stove. Access is from the Mijanès area via the forest road to the Riou Pla, then a forest track heading east, with an additional (more difficult) direct path up from Mijanès via an older route by the Bruyante. Use is first-come, first-served with no booking process.
