Refuge Swaggin

Refuge Swaggin is a wilderness backcountry hut set at the confluence of the Assomption and Swaggin rivers. It’s a reserved booking-style refuge designed for small groups, with capacity for 20 people and 6 mattresses. Inside, you’ll find a wood stove (with firewood use restrictions), a dry toilet, and a table with chairs; the sleeping setup uses wooden bed bases.

Use is by reservation (door locked; you receive an unlock code from the reservation center a few days before arrival). There’s a firewood conservation rule: limit use of firewood for heating the wood stove so reserves aren’t depleted; in cases of non-compliance, park management may charge for excessive wood use. The refuge is within the National Trail network and is used for activities that include hiking and canoeing, with winter use such as snowshoeing and Nordic skiing.
