Refugio Cajón de Azul

Refugio Cajón de Azul is a backcountry mountain hut on the trekking circuit of the Río Azul–Lago Escondido protected natural area. It’s positioned as an intermediate stop between other shelters, and the hut is typically reached on foot via the refuge trail network from the circuit start point at Wharton.

Sleeping is in shared rooms with mattresses; you need your own sleeping bag. The hut includes a kitchen and utensils, plus bathrooms and a laundry area. There’s also a small store inside, and the shower is a paid service. If you camp nearby, you can enter the shelter mainly to shower, buy items, and eat, but you can’t use the kitchen or utensils.

For lodging, there are no reservations; staying depends on availability when you arrive. Prices are listed as “from €2.50” for the shower, with overnight and camping charges shown approximately at €5 (overnight) and €2.5 (camp).
