Seipel Hut

Seipel Hut is a privately owned backcountry hut run through the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association. It sleeps 6 and sits just below timberline at 11,040 ft, with a wood oven and a fire ring/firepit setup plus year-round wood-fired sauna access. The hut is booked by 10th Mountain and is a reservation-required stay.

Inside, the layout includes one large bedroom with a queen bed on the main level, plus two private rooms with a queen bed each upstairs. Amenities include a covered outhouse (toilet) and a gear cart; there’s no shower and no charging. For systems and logistics, expect wood-fired heat, wood and starter items provided, and a spring-fed cistern where running water isn’t guaranteed—snow melt may be needed in winter and water supply can vary in summer. The hut is $495/night for stays, with the hut’s most common winter and summer access tied to Yeoman Park or other higher-elevation routes into the Holy Cross Wilderness/adjacent New York Mountain area.
