Smith Public Use Cabin

Smith Public Use Cabin is one of the National Park Service public use wilderness cabins in Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve, Alaska. Use is first-come, first-served with no reservation system; there’s no rental fee to stay in the cabin, though preserve entrance fees may apply.

Facilities include a wood stove, wood (when supplied), an outhouse, and a food cache. The cabin is accessible either by boat or by hiking, and it is described as sleeping 3 comfortably (up to 6 maximum).

The Smith Public Use Cabin was closed to public use after 2023 flood damage that left it in an unsafe structural condition (including the cabin being lifted off its foundation and turned). Public access depends on current cabin conditions, so confirm closure status before travel.
