Tahupo Hut

Tahupo Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in the Waitōtara Conservation Area (Manawatū/Whanganui region). It’s a standard six-bunk hut, set up for night stays without needing a booking; use works on a first-come, first-served basis.

The hut has beds and a fireplace, plus toilets (pit latrine). Water is typically untreated, so plan on treating it before drinking. Fees apply: adult stays cost $10 per night (youth $5 per night, children/infants $0), and you’ll need a Standard Hut Ticket for each night or use a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use during its 12-month period.
