Te Kopi Cottage
Te Kopi Cottage is a DOC backcountry base in Aorangi Forest Park (Palliser Bay), designed for family or group stays. The site includes a cottage plus two small cabins, and it sleeps 10 in total (6 in the cottage across a double room and a room with 2 bunks, plus 2 per cabin).
Access is by road: follow Cape Palliser/Whatarangi Rd (off Lake Ferry Rd) for 13 km; the driveway is the second of two on the left about 500 m before the Putangirua Pinnacles carpark turnoff. Bookings are required (no spaces are kept for arrivals without one). Bedding is not supplied—bring your own duvet or sleeping bag, pillow, and pillow covers. Facilities include electric lighting, a heatpump, and hot shower/bath, plus a fully equipped kitchen; there are no rubbish facilities, so you take your rubbish with you. The BBQ is currently unavailable.
Nearby, it’s close to the Pinnacles and other coastal walks along the rugged shoreline, with fishing opportunities; Aorangi Forest Park also offers hunting (a permit is required from DOC).
