Te Kopi Homestead

Te Kopi Homestead is a Department of Conservation backcountry lodge in Aorangi Forest Park (Palliser Bay area) for family or group accommodation in a quiet setting. The homestead sleeps 10 people in four bedrooms: two double rooms with queen-size beds and two bunkrooms (one has four bunks; the other has two).

Bookings are required. Bedding is not supplied, so bring your own duvet or sleeping bag plus a pillow and pillow covers. Facilities include electric lighting, heat pumps in both the dining room and lounge, two hot showers, and a fully equipped kitchen with an electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, and cookware. Fees apply (rates listed up to 30 June 2026 are $190 per night). The BBQ is currently unavailable and there are no rubbish facilities—pack out your waste. The homestead is close to the Pinnacles and other coastline walks, with good fishing opportunities, and Aorangi Forest Park also supports hunting. Access is by driving: follow Cape Palliser/Whatarangi Rd off Lake Ferry Rd for 13 km; the driveway is the first of two on the left about 500 m before the Putangirua Pinnacles carpark turn-off (look for a letterbox with Rural Property number 1271).
