Waikuku Lodge

Waikuku Lodge is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Aorangi Forest Park (Wairarapa), a converted farmhouse at the northern end of the park. It sleeps 24 people and offers hot showers and wood fires, with bedding not supplied (bring your own sheets/blankets or a sleeping bag and pillow).

Run the lodge as a self-contained base: water from the tap is not treated (boil before use), firewood is provided, and you’ll need to split wood with the tools supplied outside the shed. Bookings are required; fees apply (with prices specified for stays up to 30 June 2026 and new rates from 1 July 2026), and the lodge is fully booked if no online availability appears for your dates.
