Waiorongomai Hut

Waiorongomai Hut is a basic four-bunk backcountry hut in Remutaka Forest Park (Wairarapa region), operated by the Department of Conservation. The hut has an open fire, but no drinking water is provided, and toilets are by pit latrine/outhouse-style disposal.

Access for the hut is on foot into Remutaka Forest Park via Waiorongomai Station. The walking track follows the streambed to the forest park boundary sign on the true left, then continues along bush terraces with many stream crossings. Use is free and no bookings are required—it's first come, first served.
