West Kokanee Cabin (Fudd Hut)

West Kokanee Cabin (Fudd Hut) is a backcountry wilderness hut operated through the Alpine Club of Canada in the Kokanee Glacier Park area near Nelson. Use is reservation-based, and the hut’s winter program runs as a ski-week lottery with winter access by helicopter; summer access is on foot with reservations generally available up to 6 months ahead.

For planning, expect standard winter/shoulder-year rates of about $25 CAD per person per night or about $50 CAD per night for a family (two adults and two children). ACC backcountry hut stays are user-maintained: guests are responsible for keeping the hut clean, chopping firewood, and shovelling snow; guests are also expected to bring their own sleeping bag, food, and personal items, and to sanitize before and after use. In the Kokanee Glacier Park wilderness, campfires are not permitted and dogs are not allowed.
