Zealand Falls Hut
Zealand Falls Hut is an AMC backcountry alpine hut in the Pemigewasset Wilderness (White Mountain National Forest) near Zealand Falls. It’s a hike-in hut accessed by traveling 2.8 miles from the Zealand Trailhead along the Zealand Trail; the hut elevation is listed around 2,700 ft, and the approach is described as easy (about 1–3 hours).
Overnight guests can stay in one of four bunkrooms (capacity 36). The full-service season is June 4–October 17, 2026; during that period, meals are included and overnight stays are in unheated, unpowered bunkrooms with no electricity/overhead lighting. During self-service periods, guests handle their own food, with caretakers available and kitchen time assigned. During all seasons, the hut is carry-in/carry-out for trash and recyclables, quiet hours run from 9:30pm–6:30am, and there’s no Wi-Fi or cell-phone charging at the hut; guests should bring an appropriately rated sleeping bag, a headlamp, and appropriate warm layers/overnight gear.
Plan gear based on season: bring trekking poles, a pack liner, and a sleeping bag rated about 35–45°F; expect rain protection and insulating layers, plus a headlamp and emergency shelter. The hut site offers water refills and hot drinks; during the full-service season, dinner and breakfast are served family-style, and snacks/limited gear are available during daytime purchase hours.
