Below the Jolly Ride

Below the Jolly Ride, also known as BJR, is a northwest-facing sport crag of granite wall-and-slab climbing. The steep lower wall is topped by a broad slab, with a trials-bike trail running along the rim; Maestro Slab sits above the Jolly Ride sector.

The current guide lists six routes, ranging from 5.10c to 5.11a and 15–20 m in length. From right to left they are Squawmentor (5.10d, 15 m), Jolly Jumper (5.11a, 15 m), Jolly Rider (5.10c, 20 m), What a Jolly Ride (5.10d, 20 m), Darn Boring (5.10d, 20 m), and Jolly Rogering (5.10d, 20 m).

The approach from Al’s Habrich trail takes about 15 minutes. Continue beyond the boardwalk and stairs to marker #10, then cross the stream after the wooden bridge and follow the forest trail downhill toward the Habrich connector; BJR is roughly three minutes from the bridge. Its northwest aspect provides good morning shade.
