Boyd Hut
Boyd Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Kaimanawa Forest Park, tucked below Boyd Rocks above the Ngaruroro Valley. The hut provides 16 bunk beds for overnight stays; it’s set up with a central kitchen area with a wood burner, plus separate bunk rooms that sleep eight each, and a wide front verandah facing the valley and airstrip below.
Use is first come, first served—no standard bookings are required. The hut has internal water supply to a sink (drinking water is untreated), and toilets are pit latrines. Expect to pay $10 per adult (18+) per night and $5 per night for youth (5–17); children 0–4 are free. To reach the hut, you can access it via a DOC-permit airstrip in the valley for private use, or include it as part of a multi-day hike from either Taharua Road or Clements Road ends.
