Cannibal Gorge Hut

Cannibal Gorge Hut is a serviced backcountry hut in the Lewis Pass Scenic Reserve (West Coast region), managed by the Department of Conservation. The hut provides 20 bunk beds and has drinking water that must be treated before use; there’s also a fireplace and toilets with a pit latrine system.

Bookings are required for stays, with online bookings open up to 30 June 2027. Fees are charged per night (adult $25 per night, youth $12.50 per night, and children/infants $0 when 0–4 years), and Backcountry Hut Passes can be used at the hut; campsite fees are also listed separately if you’re camping at the hut.
