Cascade Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Kaimanawa Forest Park (Central North Island). It’s a rustic, single-room hut in a beech forest clearing, used as a hunting base and also for walkers on the Hinemaiaia track; there’s also camping nearby. Inside are six bunks, plus a wood burner, a table, and a sink with an internal water supply.

For getting in, the hut is reached by hiking 6–8 hours from Clements Mill Road end via the Hinemaiaia Track (a 2–4 day trip for most approaches). The hut uses a pit latrine for toilets and includes drinking water that’s untreated; plan accordingly for safe water treatment. Standard hut bookings aren’t required—stays are first come, first served. Fees are payable via a hut ticket placed in the honesty box; adult (18+) is $10 per night and youth (5–17) is $5 per night (0–4 is free). To stay within the booked system, buy a Standard Hut Ticket for each night you use the hut, or use a backcountry hut pass that covers unlimited use at most standard and serviced huts for 12 months.
