Waihaha Hut
Waihāhā Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Pureora Forest Park (Waitomo/Pureora area). It’s a standard 10-bunk hut set in a clearing overlooking the river where the Waihāhā Track meets the Hauhungaroa Track, and it’s built for use by track parties moving between those routes.
Use is on a first-come, first-served basis—no standard bookings are required. You’ll need a Standard Hut Ticket for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut; an annual Backcountry Hut Pass also provides unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for 12 months. Sleeping is in a 10-bunk setup (mattress provided), with an on-site fireplace and toilets (pit latrine). Water is available but untreated, so plan to treat before drinking.
