Comyns Hut

Comyns Hut is a DOC backcountry hut in Hakatere Conservation Park (Canterbury). It’s a basic hut built in 1957, and it sleeps up to 8 people in 8 bunk beds on a first-come, first-served basis with no bookings required.

Facilities include a pit latrine and drinking water is not provided. There is a fireplace and mattresses are available, but with no water supplied you’ll need to carry what you need for the night. It sits between A Frame Hut (about 2 hr 30 min, 5.2 km) and Double Hut (about 8 hr, 16 km) on a Te Araroa section that requires the Te Araroa Trail Pass for Trail walkers.
