Cookshop Hut

Cookshop Hut is a private backcountry hut on Winterslow Station (Canterbury, New Zealand) with 19 bunks. Use is by permission from the station owners, because the hut sits on a working pastoral lease; it has also been used for private functions like weddings.

Inside, you’ll find mattresses and built-in lighting, plus cooking and heating gear including cookers, a closed fire, and a wood stove. The hut has toilets and a roof-fed rainwater system that collects water into a holding tank, and it’s set up for self-sufficient stays where visitors bring their own sleeping bags and supplies.
