Crooked Spur Hut

Crooked Spur Hut is a free-to-use backcountry hut run by the Department of Conservation in Te Kahui Kaupeka Conservation Park (South Canterbury, Canterbury region). It’s a basic hut with 8 bunk beds and is set up for first-come, first-served use—no bookings are required.

Inside, it has mattresses, a fireplace, and toilets with a pit latrine system. Drinking water isn’t provided, so bring your own. Te Araroa Trail walkers should register and purchase the Te Araroa Trail Pass, and approach route guidance is covered by the Two Thumb Track.
