Double Hut

Double Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Hakatere Conservation Park (Canterbury). It’s a basic hut with 6 bunk beds, intended for simple overnight stays in the Mid and South Canterbury backcountry.

Bookings aren’t required; use is first come, first served. Use is free, and Te Araroa Trail walkers should register and purchase the Te Araroa Trail Pass. The hut has a fireplace, mattresses, and toilets using a pit latrine. There is limited firewood at the hut—don’t cut down vegetation.
