Erewhon Hut

Erewhon Hut is a ski-touring and backcountry-use hut at Mt Potts on the southern side of the Southern Alps, run by AlpineHuts@MtPotts for groups of up to 12. It sleeps up to 12 guests and is intended for people traveling by ski tour, but it’s also promoted for hikers and mountain bikers.

The hut is set up as a remote base: it sits about a 1.5-hour drive from Methven and about a 2.5-hour drive from Christchurch. The operator site also describes Erewhon Hut as having a fireplace, and the hut’s bookings for winter 2026 are open there (with summer bookings also available).
